Story
Young people leaving children's homes and foster care are all too often lonely and isolated. They are often living alone at an early age, balancing adult responsibilities with the impact of the trauma they experienced in early life (and possibly events that have happened since then). They are in need of rapid access to outreach mental heath support, using a trauma informed approach. Existing services are not meeting the needs of many care experienced youngsters, they are slipping through the gaps!
We need your help to ensure that we can continue to offer this service to care leavers across Cheshire East.
Many are in (but drop out of) education, employment or training and need support to maintain their placements by receiving quick access to outreach mental health support . Other are struggling with homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse and other issues as a direct result of their poor mental health and the poverty they are living in. All this can be avoidable over time, with access to the right help and support.
We work closely with Chehsire East Council who are exploring funding part of this project but we need additional funds to ensure we can keep the service going when our current funding ends June 2021.
These young people deserve to have people in their corner ensuring they get the best services possible. Please get alongside us to ensure this is possible
