Story
Charlie lost his life because he didn’t have the information he desperately needed.
When his epilepsy medication ran out, Charlie did everything right—he called NHS 111, his GP, and his pharmacy. But no one told him he had a legal right to emergency medication. Charlie never got the help he needed, and as a result he died from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).
Epilepsy is a time-critical condition. Over 21 people die suddenly every week in the UK—many of them young. Too often, the reasons are the same: not having access to the right medication at the right time, and not knowing the risks.
That’s why the Charlie Card was created—by Charlie’s mum, in partnership with SUDEP Action. It gives people with epilepsy the crucial information Charlie didn’t have, including:
How to get emergency medication
Life-saving epilepsy safety facts
Free access to the award-winning EpsMon app
Easy-read resources to help people and families stay safe
Our aim is to ensure all 600,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK have a Charlie Card. This campaign target of £23,657 will supply 10,000 cards free of charge to people living with epilepsy.
Your donation helps put this life-saving card into more hands. Every card is a chance to prevent another tragic death—and a powerful tribute to Charlie’s memory.
