Story

Could you Choose to Lose?

Could you choose to lose something you love to raise money and prayer for young Christians who have lost everything because of their faith in Jesus?

Around the world courageous people are choosing to follow Jesus, knowing that in doing so, they will lose. Their choice might mean loss of family, friends, home, income and security. And for some there is a greater cost - the loss of freedom, or even their life.

Whatever you love - coffee, chocolate, TV, Netflix, Spotify, gaming, sugar, social media, your bed or even hairstyle - whatever it is, could you give it up for a short time?

Choose what to give up, when, for how long and then set a fundraising target! Raise money to support Christians around the world who have lost family, home, friends, safety and freedom because of their love of Jesus. (If you sign up at opendoorsyouth.org/choosetolose we'll send you a helpful fundraising pack too).

Choose to Lose for young people like Saser and Mihea...

Saser* (18) and Mihea* (22) from Laos had recently chosen to follow Jesus when their Christian faith was discovered. In the space of an afternoon, they lost their home and safety. People they used to call neighbours, along with the police, questioned and beat them. They were told to sign documents saying they would stop being Christian and return to the local tribal religion. But they refused. So, the violence got worse.

Eventually the villagers pushed them out of their house and evicted them from the area. The message was clear: if you choose Jesus, youre no longer safe here.

For Saser and Mihea, choosing Jesus has meant losing home, physical safety, security, and community. Despite wanting to go back, they have moved to a local city where Open Doors partners have been supporting them.

Could you help young people like Saser and Mihea and choose to lose something you love to raise money and prayer for Christians like them who have lost everything because of their faith in Jesus? Sign up and start fundraising now.
