Christmas Packs 2020

For many of us Christmas is something that we look forward to each year, especially the opportunity to meet together as families ands enjoy being with those that we have not see for much of the year. This year we are still working out how this will look as we wrestle with latest government advice, however for one group of people Christmas is often a difficult time. While jails do their best to make it special, for men and women in prison it is always hard being away from family - this year it of course comes at the end of a difficult year when for much of the time routines in the prison have been different and prisoners have had much less opportunity to take part in activities. To help bring a little bit of Christmas Cheer Prison Fellowship Scotland are joining forces with Junction 42 and Connect to Community to provide Christmas gift packs to everyone in a Scottish prison. This pack will have a chocolate, an art activity, a leaflet on the real meaning of Christmas, card for those in prison, another card they can send out to a friend or family member and booklet from the Bible Society of Scotland on Advent and through all this we hope that those in prison feel wanted and cared for Many of you will have engaged with activities of Prisoners Week this year with the theme of Not Alone. For those of us who have the privilege of being involved with work in prison this Christmas Gift pack is another opportunity to help the men and women in Scottish prisons know that they are not alone.

In the cards we assure them that they are being prayed for and through the booklet and we hope they will discover more of the reality that God is with them all the time.

Of course one thing that characterises most of 2020 is adapting to the unexpected. This opportunity to give small gift to all those in Scottish prison is not something that we had planned for and we would love it if you would join with us in this project both by praying for the gifts being given and also if you would help us raise the funds to cover the cost of these gift packs.
