Story
As some of the most vulnerable members of our society, prisoners have had a tremendously hard time this year. 23 hour lockdown, feeling of isolation and loneliness, mental health rates rising drastically and a severe lack of family contact.
This year I want to fundraise for Prison Fellowship Scotland. They are an amazing charity who offer hope to prisoners and their families - something that is so essential for them, particularly this year. They are campaigning to ensure that each prisoner in Scotland will receive a Christmas package: a chocolate bar, an art activity, a leaflet on the real meaning of Christmas and two Christmas cards - one for themselves and one that they can send to a friend or family member.
Having visited a couple of prisons myself in the past year and met and spoken to some of the guys in the prisons, I really know how much this gift would be valued. A little something really does go a long way.
As a completely novice runner, my target of running 50 miles in advent is going to be a challenge (those of you who know me will know I don't take to running naturally !!). Any donations to this amazing charity would be hugely appreciated by myself and them. Let's work together to bring some light to these prisoners at the end of a lonely year, and help them to know that they are not alone.
