A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck near San Jose del Palmar in Colombia's Choco region on August 10, causing deadly destruction across western Colombia. Lives have been lost, buildings have collapsed, and communities in areas including Risaralda, Valle del Cauca, Choco, and Caldas are reporting severe damage. Rescue teams are searching rubble for survivors as aftershocks and damaged infrastructure complicate emergency response.
