This International Women's day, Refuge has launched the "Step4Change” challenge, where we're calling upon groups or teams to walk 4 miles a day in the week running up to IWD.
This is in support of the 1 in 4 women who will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
Remember, it’s your challenge. If you are unable to do a full week of walking or would like to make the challenge even bigger - you are welcome to hold a one day event to complete your miles or take on 4 miles a day for a whole month!
You can set the duration of the challenge to work best around your schedule.
Make sure to join our Step4Change Strava club to record your miles and see how your teammates are doing: https://www.strava.com/clubs/Step4Change
With your support, we can help every woman, and their children, reach safety and start rebuilding their lives. And by stepping up, you are helping to accelerate action for women’s equality:
- Raising £52 could provide a woman and her children a safe night’s stay in a refuge
- Raising £100 could provide a refuge with outdoor games for children to play with
- Raising £275 could cover the costs of running the Helpline for an hour
- Raising £320 could cover the moving costs for a woman who’s ready to leave a refuge and restart her life free from fear and abuse
- Raising £700 could fund two volunteers to take part in a two-week Helpline induction training
- Raising £1,500 could buy furniture for a family moving from a refuge into their own home
