The Coronavirus pandemic has placed many countries around the world into lock down, with health services struggling and victim numbers increasing daily. But what can we do? The Islamic answer is a simple, but profound one.
The Prophet (saw) said, Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity. [Tirmidhi]
Right now, we need charity more than ever to avert these trials and tribulations. By acts of selfless giving and sharing, we believe that Allah will show His mercy and remove the calamities, illness and hardships we're facing.
In this time of great struggle, there are many who are left vulnerable in their homes without an income or food. We believe Muslim Hands donors are the most kind and caring having helped millions of people over the last 25 years. Today, we are calling on you to please dig even deeper. It could be your donation that removes the calamity that we are all facing.
Family Food Parcel - £50 can provide a family food parcel, which will be provided both in the UK and abroad. This will help those who have lost their source of income and are isolated at home due to the virus.
Provide 20 cooked meals - £70 can feed 20 vulnerable people at our Open Kitchen in West London. Meals are provided twice a day, following government hygiene protocols and also delivered to those in self-isolation.
Medical Packs - £100 can provide three Medical Packs for global front line medical officials, including medical masks, medical gowns, surgical disposable gloves, medical goggles and hand sanitisers.
If there ever was a time for community spirit, it is now. Please do follow government guidelines by staying at home, washing your hands and taking care of those around you.
Giving charity is an excellent way to protect ourselves from calamity while standing in solidarity with our neighbours. Please give generously to ensure those vulnerable in communities have enough to eat during this crisis.
