Cosmic Rays Take On the English Channel
This June, a courageous team of Cosmic supporters will brave the open waters in an extraordinary relay swim across the English Channel – all to raise vital funds for critically ill babies and children.
Part of our Cosmic Rays challenge series, this iconic feat will see the team tackle the 21-mile stretch from Dover to the French coastline, swimming in turns through cold waters, strong tides, and one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
Why They're Swimming
Each stroke they take is in honour of the families and children supported by Cosmic across our neonatal and paediatric intensive care units at St Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s Hospitals in London.
By taking on this ultimate test of endurance and teamwork, the swimmers are helping fund lifesaving equipment, parent accommodation close to the units, staff training, and emotional support for families during the most difficult moments of their lives.
A Quote from the Team
“We know the challenge ahead won’t be easy – the water will be cold, the conditions tough, and the swim long – but it’s nothing compared to what these families go through. We’re doing this to give back and make sure Cosmic can be there for them.”
