Wheels will be spinning at Westgate leisure Centre this May as Dementia Support, who operate Sage House in Tangmere, are hosting a charity spinathon challenge. Come and join in the fun and spin 17km on the 17th May to raise awareness and funds for the 17,000 people in West Sussex who are living with dementia. The 12 hour Spinathon will start at 7am, on Wednesday 17th May and finishes at 7pm.
We are inviting you to take part by booking a 1 hour (or more!) spin slot, you can either spin on your own or bring a team! Adults and children are welcome as we try to ride 17km as many times as possible. As well as those riding the full 17km, we welcome people to ride any distance they choose, whether that is multiples of 17km or contributing to our overall total.
Ben Polhill from Westgate Leisure centre said, This is a great opportunity for anyone and everyone to get involved, you can either book a space or just turn up. Why not join in during your lunch, come along and take part with the kids, and businesses can bring teams along as we will have plenty of bikes available
Members and non-members of the leisure centre are welcome to dip in and out of the peddling, with plenty of bikes available for people to use.
James Lovell, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Dementia Support will be on the bike all day, aiming to complete the 17k challenge 10 times in the day.
James said, There are 17,000 people living with dementia in West Sussex, and we want to raise awareness of the impact this disease has on so many people. Even if you can only cycle for a short period of time, your donations and support will make a huge difference to improving the lives of people affected by dementia.
