The Big Walk is back on 27th September 2026

Join us once again for a community coastal walking event in support of Dorset Mind, taking in some of the most beautiful stretches of the Dorset coastline.

Whether you’re taking on a full coastal challenge or enjoying a shorter wellbeing walk, The Big Walk is a chance to move, connect, and support better mental health across our communities.

Choose your challenge

- 30K Coastal Challenge

Take on our flagship 30km coastal challenge from Sandbanks to Hengistbury Head and back. A full-day walk for those looking to push themselves while experiencing some of Dorset’s most stunning coastline.

- 5K Wellbeing Walk

A shorter, accessible coastal walk from Sandbanks to Branksome Chine Beach and return. A relaxed route suitable for all ages and abilities.

- Mid-route join option

Participants on the 30K challenge can also join at Hengistbury Head for a flexible start point.

Dorset Mind strives to end the stigma that surrounds mental health, while delivering life-changing support to individuals in our local community and inspiring people to live mentally healthy.

Mental health problems can affect anyone at any point in their life. Around one in four people will suffer from some form of diagnosable mental health problem during their lifetime. The most common forms of mental health problems are anxiety, stress and depression, but there are many others, including bipolar, schizophrenia, eating disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder. 

Dorset Mind charity has over 75 years of experience supporting Dorset’s mental health. They connect and change minds, working in partnerships that bring people together to make genuine connections.
