Story
Restoration
As we depart the Winter and enter the Easter period, we can look around and witness the rebirth associated with Easter. April is a time of fresh starts and expectation. It's a time to absorb both the gravity and the greatness of Good Friday and the triumph and celebration of Easter Monday. Easter is associated with new life, represented by new born lambs, rollicking rabbits and family picnics.
But this idyllic image doesn't fit all circumstances. For many, it can mark the end of a troubled marriage; the termination of an expensive tenancy; the loss of a loved one; the end of a comfortable life and the start of an existence in the cold. Often with just a dog for company.
Luke 24:2-3: tells us that when the disciples came to recover the body of Jesus, "They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus."
The wonderful truth is that Easter Sunday always follows Good Friday. Spring is something we can expect and share. Even the rough sleeper looks forward to better weather. But can we do more than simply offer food and hygiene? Our mission encompasses the rebirth of hope as well the return to society.
But we can't do it alone. Our work is a team effort. Volunteers, funders, supporters, staff, churches, schools, community groups, service providers - and, most importantly, you. Our mission at Off The Fence is to carry our clients hopes and dreams out of the Tomb and watch them walk. The people we help may not fit society's model of lifestyle or behaviour. They imperfectly present themselves and their needs to us.
We don't judge, we listen and then we act. But to save and change lives we need your help. God bless you.
