We use them to move. Walk, eat, smile, cry. Pump blood around our bodies. To breathe in and out.

Our muscles matter.

MDUK was chosen as Eric Wright Partnerships' Charity of the Year following a nomination from John Wigham in memory of his friend Jack Milner from Longton who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a child.

Muscular dystrophy is a progressive condition and by the time Jack left Longton Primary School he was already using a wheelchair. He went on to Priory High School followed by University. Jack was an incredibly talented guitar player and artist and often performed around the local area.

Jack very much lived life to the full, spending weekends with friends in pubs in his local village and beyond and going on various holidays. He was able to have independence through the use of an electric wheelchair and had a VW van that he was able to drive with a joystick thanks to support from this charity.

Jack passed away suddenly on 23 October 2021, aged 28 years and is incredibly missed by his friends, family and other people who knew him around Longton.

Friends and family have already held events to raise money for this fantastic charity and we hope to continue this.
