The full-scale invasion of Ukraine has lasted for over four years, destroying the country and ruining lives.

For us in Stand for U and our partners in Kharkiv, every life is invaluable. This is why we launched the "Evacuation for Ukraine" project in 2024.

Its mission is to provide evacuation vehicles to save civilians trapped in frontline territories.

Our Impact So Far

We purchase second-hand vans and ambulances; gather donated clothes, hygiene items, and toys locally in Brighton; pack the vehicles (ours and our partner's) to the brim; and drive them directly to Ukraine.

In just two years, we have sent three evacuation ambulances — Yvik, Amy and Fiona — and eight evacuation buses — Bob, Chris, Eric, Graham, Tom, Jerry, Harry, Kaye. Together, these vehicles have saved over 9,000 lives, transporting people from their homes in incredibly dangerous areas to the relative safety of shelters in Kharkiv.

A Critical Need for Support

Thousands of civilians remain trapped in high-risk areas, where dedicated volunteers — like our trusted partners in Kharkiv — offer their only way to safety. They work tirelessly, navigating severely damaged roads under extremely dangerous conditions. Due to these harsh environments, our evacuation vehicles frequently require urgent repairs or replacement to keep rescue missions going.

How your donations are used

Purchasing Vehicles: Buying reliable vans and ambulances in the UK.

Servicing & Repairs: Full technical checkups, repairs, and buying off-road tyres to ensure the vehicles survive rough conditions.

Logistics & Delivery: Fuel and transit costs to deliver fully packed vehicles straight to Kharkiv.

£5 — Cargo Packing & Securing (x10 boxes, approx. 150 kg)

Covers boxes, tape, sorting, and labelling to safely prepare aid for transport.

£15 — Fuel for 25 Kilometres (~15 Miles)

Sponsors 25 km of the journey, keeping the aid-filled vehicle moving towards Kharkiv.

£60 — Sponsors 100 Kilometres of Delivery

Covers all transit expenses (fuel and tolls) for 100 km of the 2,500-km route.

£100 — Tyre & Wheel Fund

Contributes directly to buying heavy-duty all-terrain tyres (£100–£150 each) built to navigate damaged roads and debris.

£250–£500 — Mechanical Servicing & Repairs

Covers full MOT prep, brake overhauls, engine servicing, or major parts replacement (£250–£500 average) to ensure the vehicle is reliable and evacuation-ready.
