YG's volunteer mentor, Fanny Snaith, is taking on the challenging Dalai Lama Himalayan Trek in Oct 2025 and is raising money for Young Gloucestershire, a countywide youth-work charity that supports young people, aged 11-25, who face challenges in their lives.
Beginning and ending at the heart of the world’s highest mountain range in Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama resides, Fanny will take a rarely-trekked route visiting India’s exiled Tibetan community. The trek follows the Uhl River, through rhododendron and evergreen forests, taking in Hindu settlements and isolated Buddhist monasteries.
Last year, over 4,700 children, young people and families – those with disruptive home lives, care-leavers, academic underachievers, those with drug and alcohol dependencies, young parents/carers, young offenders, refugee and asylum seekers, or those coping with mental health issues, turned to YG for help in finding practical ways to motivate themselves, to develop confidence and to gain the transferable skills they need to get their lives on track. This is only possible thanks to supporters such as Fanny.
