Fanny's fundraiser for her 60 years and Young Gloucestershire

Dalai Lama Himalayan Trek · 31 October 2025
It is my 60th birthday and I realise that I don't need presents!
What I would really like is to raise money for charity whilst challenging myself to do something new.
I have always wanted to trek part of the Himalayas and so.... that is what I will do. Cold showers, camping on hard floors and toilets that you would not choose - but hey... all in a good cause and a great opportunity for me.
I started volunteering for Young Gloucestershire in June 2023, and I love it! I spent a whole year with an amazing person who taught me so much while I gave them value, too. I can't wait to meet the next young person I will mentor.
YG gives young people across Gloucestershire, the confidence, motivation and skills to succeed.
Whether they are experiencing a disruptive home life, caring for a family member, or coping with a mental health issue, young people turn to us for help. We offer them practical ways to find confidence and develop the skills they need to get on track and move into a job, education, or training.
Dropping out of school and facing a chaotic home life led Callum to seek help from Young Gloucestershire. "For once, I met people who understood me."
