Every day, we rescue good-to-eat, surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and get it to charities and community groups across our region. That food helps provide meals for people facing economic hardship; supporting families, older people, and individuals who need it most.

Story

Good food to Good Causes

FareShare North East works quickly and effectively to prevent good food from going to waste, getting it to good causes, ensuring that we feed people first.

Last year we rescued 1,630 tonnes of food, enough for 3.9 million meals across the North East

The food we receive helps us provide essential assistance to those in crisis, making a real difference in their lives - Esme Newcastle Community Asset Trust

We currently support between 20 to 40 residents every week, from all works of life including pensioners, single parents, domestic abuse, homeless, and ethnic communities. The Fareshare delivery has had such a big impact for the lives of the residents- giving them healthy food to make a meal to support their health and wellbeing as well , this also helps them who are affected by poverty /cost of living crisis . No matter what life throws at them they know we are always here to help them if we can. Teresa - Horden Hub House

We did a recent guest survey and here are some quotes about the meals we serve with the FareShare food: 'we can spend quality time as a family without the worry of money. We also get to try new foods and get to eat fruit and vegetables' Beneficiary attending FoodCycle
