We have moved into our new home in West Sussex. Renovation of The Stable Yard is well in hand. Our paddocks have been rested, and with cutting we have had a good flush of Autumn grass now rains have returned good news for now. The bad news however is that a major problem looms as Winter sets in. This years poor harvests due to drought during the summer means that animal feed is already in short supply and this situation is only going to get worse. Hay is an essential feed for the horses in Winter, but neither the supply situation nor quality looks good. We face having to pay much higher prices to feed our horses properly with the compounded feed and supplements to keep older horses fit and resistant to the cold. And it is not just feed that is a looming problem. Straw is already rising in price well above normal, and we need lots of good quality straw to keep all the horses, warm, snug and healthy in their Winter quarters. So once again, we are going to have to rely on your kind generosity to see us through difficult times. Please find it in your hearts to help our horses.
