Story

This Christmas, we’re asking Readers near and far to join our Big Festive Read, raising money to help families in the Liverpool City Region spark a life-long love of reading.

Big Festive Read - The Challenge:

Get the kids excited about reading and get that competitive spirit sparkling this Christmas while raising money for a brilliant cause!

How many books can you read together in December?! 5? 10? Perhaps even more!

You could think about asking sponsors for 50p or £1 a book, or perhaps a fixed amount in appreciation of your efforts...

To take part in our Big Festive Read, simply set up your Just Giving page and start collecting sponsorship today.

The Project

Reading is the single most important thing that can make a child successful in life (UNESCO, 2011).

Delivered since 2018, First Page delivers fun, interactive and relaxed training courses and experiences to help children build confident, positive and rewarding relationships with books and reading for pleasure.

Working with partners, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, The Whitechapel Centre, Kinship Carers, Refugee Women Connect and Save the Family, First Page reaches children experiencing a wide range of challenging circumstances such as homelessness, illness, refugee status, and kinship care (living in the care of a family members other than parents).

I learned to slow down and enjoy the journey of reading as well as the sharing of the story.
