Story
This project started when we realised many children would go home from school and would not have any dinner as families were struggling to buy food. Since the pandemic food prices have risen a lot and families are struggling even more now than ever before.
We ensure that the children receive 2-3 meals a day at school depending on what level of education they are at. So in the school holidays, a month in June and a month in December, we want to make sure the children are still getting help with meals.
We aim to give food parcels to every family in the June and December school holidays when the pressure is at its highest as the children are at home and not receiving the meals they usually get at school.
Each food parcel contains 5kg rice, 5kg maize, 1kg salt and 3lts of cooking oil, as well as a bar of soap as this was also an essential item that experienced price increases making it hard to buy for many families.
The total cost of each package is currently £20 per family.
