Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

My name's Jordan Adams, and I'm on a mission to raise £1million for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Why? Because my brother, Cian, and I carry the gene for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Without a cure, we know we'll eventually lose our lives to dementia. So, we need your help.

🏃About the challenge

Taking part is simple: choose your own running goal, train for it, and complete it in September.

Whether you're a complete beginner, run for fun or are a seasoned pro, it's all about picking an activity that pushes you out of your own personal comfort zone.

🔬Help us raise £1million for Alzheimer's Research UK

This challenge isn't just about running, it's also about fundraising. My brother and I are on a mission to raise £1million for Alzheimer's Research UK and we're so proud of what we've raised so far. But, we need your help.

For this challenge, we're asking you to pick a fundraising target, raise as much money as you can, and help us get one step closer to a cure.

📙My Story

At 15 years old, I became a carer for my mom. I watched dementia strip her of everything piece by piece. Back then, I thought that would be the hardest thing I'd ever go through. But since that time, I've had to face so much more.

I carry the gene for frontotemporal dementia (FTD)--the same one that's already taken 13 members of my family. And, I also know that my brother carries the same gene, the same fate.

But I still I take huge pride in the fact that although I'm not unscathed, I'm still intact. And I owe a lot of that to running. It's the reason I'm still here. It's the reason I've been able to create a legacy that no one will ever forget.

I've got maybe 10 years to make as much noise as I can about this, about dementia. To fight for awareness, funding and research. To hope for a miracle that might come in time to save me, my brother or someone else's mom.

This challenge isn't just a running challenge. It's a tribute. To my mum and to the millions of people living with dementia. And to all the young boys and girls struggling with trauma, anxiety and the depression like me and my brother.

That's why I run. No matter the cards you're dealt, you can choose how to play your hand.

Let's run to cure the dementia that will one day take our lives.
