No words will really be able to capture the need for help in Gaza, Palestine, for the families of the 48,000 plus that have been killed or for the over 111,000 injured. Unfortunately these figures will only grow by the hour during the days of the blessed month of Ramadan.

Can you imagine being disabled in Gaza in normal circumstances. The number of disabled persons in Gaza, Palestine now will now be at an all time high due the indiscriminate bombing and shooting of civilians. They need our help now more than ever!

SOME FACTS

The fear of having to survive this war with a disability haunts almost everyone in the Gaza Strip. A report released last month by Handicap International revealed that the injuries Palestinians have sustained during the onslaught include fractures, peripheral nerve injuries, amputations, spinal cord and brain injuries, and burns.

Many of the 25,000 children injured in Gaza have been grappling with the loss of one or more limbs, according to the UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF. Even before the war, 21 percent of Gaza’s households included at least one person with a disability

Before the current crisis, Wheels to Heal was one of the very few charities to have successfully delivered a mobility aid container to Gaza, Palestine - not once but twice in 2016 and 2018 respectively - during a phase when all major charities had given up helping in this way due to the barriers placed by the occupying force.
