Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As a family, we know only too well how a disability can impact a child’s life and their family’s daily experiences. I was born prematurely and, as a consequence, have a physical disability.
My prognosis as an infant wasn’t great. My parents were told I would have “life-limiting disabilities” and “not a great quality of life.” But, by the grace of God, through sheer determination, intensive physical therapy, and access to the right mobility equipment, I've surpassed all expectations. Today, I lead an active, rich, and fulfilling life, accessing the same activities and opportunities as my siblings and friends—all thanks to the mobility aids that empower and enable my independence.
My grandfather passed away a few years ago. He was a kind and generous man, always passionate about ensuring that I had access to the mobility aids I needed. His dream was for all disabled people, no matter their economic circumstances, to have the same opportunity for independence, dignity, and freedom.
We want every disabled child and adult, regardless of their circumstances, to experience that same dignity.
A few years ago, I led a fundraising campaign that raised £12,000, allowing us to send a full container of mobility equipment to disabled children and adults in Kurdistan. Seeing firsthand how this changed lives has inspired me to do even more and help more disabled people.
Now, we want to continue this legacy by sending another 40ft container of essential mobility equipment, this time to the disabled children and adults of Gaza—where the need has never been greater.
• 25,000 children have been injured during the war, many losing limbs.
• The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reports that 13,000 children in Gaza have lost one or more limbs. Without mobility aids, thousands will be left to suffer—unable to move, work, or regain a sense of normal life.
The fear of surviving this war with a disability haunts almost everyone in Gaza. According to Handicap International, common war-related injuries include:
• Fractures & Peripheral Nerve Injuries
• Amputations
• Spinal Cord & Brain Injuries
• Severe Burns
We are fundraising to send a full 40ft shipping container packed with over 500 life-changing mobility aids, including:
• 100 x Manual Wheelchairs
• 300 x Zimmer Frames
• 35 x Wheel Rollators
• 10 x Commodes
• 10 x Table Trolleys
• 8 x Shower Supports
• 10 x Crutches
• 50 x Walking Sticks
• 4 x Electric Wheelchairs
• 3 x Specialised Wheelchairs
• 3 x Medical Beds
• 2 x Hoists
• 5 x Mattresses
• 4 x Comfy Chairs
• 2 x Bath Lifts
• 5 x Miscellaneous Items
These items will restore dignity, independence, and hope to those who have lost so much.
I’ve set myself the huge target of doing a sponsored swim of 5Kilometres – that’s 200 lengths of the swimming pool during Ramadan.
