Organised by Youth Link NetworksHi everyone. In July 2022 you helped us to raised £799 to contribute costs towards supporting 6 NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training) to enrol on a 6 month sewing internship programme. We are back again to raise more as its going amazingly!
On July 4th 2022 we started a pilot project to enrol 6 NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) girls from the Iganga District of Eastern Uganda on a sewing internship.
Now in December, the girls are approaching successful completion with a 100% attendance rate and desire to explore the world of textiles further.
Youth Link Networks started this pilot project with no guarantee that it was going to be consistently desired in the community. In July 2022, we had a 150% attendance rate with more girls arriving to learn than we could accommodate for. These girls are now on the waiting list to start the sewing course in January 2023 and so fourth.
As a gift for successful completion, we would like to issue our girls with their very own sewing machine and starter sewing kit, with materials. This will cost £300 per girl so we are fundraising for £1,800
We have 6 new keen teens awaiting to start the next internship in January so we are also fundraising for £3,600 to cover the cost of running the project for the next 6 months. This covers electric, water, snacks, facilitation, cleaning, materials, tools/resources and administration.
We are also raising £600 which is the cost to hire the building where we carry out this project for 6 months as well as other project facilitation. Without this building, we have no runnings projects!
