Story
Aprade and Parkoso are communities in the Ashanti region of Ghana. They are communities that are very close to each other. Teenage pregnancy is predominant in these communities due to the lack of financial support from parents to support their girl child even though school. This has made most girls in the community dependent on men for their survival. I had the opportunity to study fashion design and garment construction in one of the prestigious colleges in the capital city of Ghana; Accra and as a result has rendered me capable of being independent in terms of working for a living. It is indeed my dearest wish to train these young ladies in my communities acquire the skills of sewing so they can be independent and as a result reduce the number of teenage pregnancies going on. In the course of my training, I would therefore like to give them sewing machines and sewing kits or materials to help train them effectively. So far, they are 12 in number and per the calculation, it will cost £300 per girl so we are fundraising almost £4000 to cover for all expenses.
