Story
In 2025, 1 in 6 people in mid-Michigan experienced food insecurity; that's over 106,500 people, including 24,200 children that faced barriers to essential nutrition.
Unexpected bills, disrupted paychecks, and an increasing cost of living cause families to make hard choices about how to use their limited income; for many seniors in mid-Michigan, this means choosing between food or medication. For food insecure children, inconsistent access to food can have lifelong implications on their physical, social, and academic development.
GLFB's mission is to partner to alleviate hunger, one meal at a time, to create a future where everyone has access to nourishing food. In 2025, we distributed 10.8 million meals across our 7-county service area (Clare, Clinton, Ingham, Eaton, Isabella, Gratiot, and Shiawassee counties), providing food access that fills bellies and empowers lives.
Through our network of 300+ partners, we are able to provide 3 meals for every $1 donated!
