Story
In mid-Michigan, 1 in 6 people experience food insecurity, meaning they do not have consistent access to enough affordable food to live an active, healthy life. Unexpected bills, disrupted paychecks, and the rising cost of living can force families to make difficult choices about how to stretch limited income. For many seniors, that can mean choosing between food and medication. For children, inconsistent access to food can affect their physical, social, and academic development.
That is why I am hosting a Virtual Food Drive on November 29, 2026, in celebration of "A Very Merry Auxo" This personal challenge is Auxo Winery’s way of coming together with others to support a cause that matters deeply to our community. Through this effort, we hope to shine a light on the importance of access to nourishing food and the strength that grows when we care for one another.
Great Lakes Food Bank's mission is to partner to alleviate hunger, one meal at a time, and build a future where everyone has access to nourishing food. In 2024, 10.7 million meals were distributed across the 7-county service area of Clare, Clinton, Ingham, Eaton, Isabella, Gratiot, and Shiawassee counties, helping provide essential nourishment to neighbors across mid-Michigan. Through this network of partners, every $1 donated helps provide 3 meals.
We invite you to join us in supporting this Virtual Food Drive. Your gift can help put nourishing food on the table for families, seniors, and children who need it most. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and help create a stronger, more hopeful community for everyone.
