Story
Tens of thousands of migrants are currently still stuck in Greece's refugee camps, forming part of the most severe crisis of forcibly displaced people since WWII. Among these are many children, having fled their war-ridden countries, who are confronted daily with the angst and trauma of having no place to call home, and no guarantee of a safe future.
No child should go through such distressing events at such a young age. At Wind-Up Penguin, we want to ensure every child gets access to the crucial elements of a healthy childhood: laughter, stories, games, and a safe space to play and be creative.
That's why five of us, all music and drama students/alumni from London's best conservatoires, are devising a new piece of music and theatre to share with children in Greece's refugee camps from the 17th ro the 30th of July, working closely with NGOs and charity groups operating in the area to deliver positivity, fun, and laughter. We are proud to be able to share the results of our ongoing training with over a thousand children, in camps an shelters in mainland Greece.
How can you help? Our company is run entirely by students and young graduates. We fund and fundraise for these projects ourselves, which is why we're asking for YOUR help now. Any gift to us, even the most modest, will help enormously towards covering the necessary costs to enable us to share music and theatre with many children in these Greek refugee camps.
Thank you! Alexandra, Lydia, Olivia, Frank, and Elisabeth
