Story

Bereavement Support Groups for Children and Young People

When a child or young person experiences the death of someone important in their life, it can be difficult to understand what has happened and what it means for them. They may have questions they are afraid to ask, feelings they struggle to express, or feel isolated because their friends have not had similar experiences.

Guy's Gift provides bereavement support groups for children and young people across Coventry and Warwickshire. Our groups offer a safe and supportive space where young people can learn about bereavement, understand their thoughts and feelings, and meet others who have experienced a death.

Why These Groups Matter

Bereavement affects every child differently. There is no right or wrong way to respond when someone dies. Through group activities, discussion and peer support, children and young people can explore what bereavement means to them, develop healthy coping strategies and gain confidence in talking about their experiences.

One of the most valuable aspects of our groups is the opportunity to meet others who understand. Many young people tell us that simply being with others who have experienced a death helps them feel less alone.

It helped me realise I wasn't the only one going through this.

What Your Donation Will Do

It costs around £2,000 to deliver one bereavement support group for up to 30 children and young people.

Your donation will help fund:

- Safe and accessible venues

- Specialist bereavement support workers and counsellors

- Group resources and activities

- Volunteer support

Every £2,000 raised will fund another group, helping more bereaved children and young people access support across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Help Us Reach More Young People

With your support, we can continue to provide opportunities for children and young people to understand bereavement, share experiences, build connections and receive the support they need following a death.

Thank you for helping us ensure that bereaved children and young people do not have to face their bereavement alone.
