In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, my four-year-old son, Aaron, was diagnosed with brain cancer. We were absolutely devastated. We live in North Wales and the closest place for Aaron to have his cancer treatment was in Liverpool. I stayed with him while my husband drove over 60 miles back and forth to visit. Due to the pandemic, I was furloughed and on reduced pay. We had so much to worry about with Aaron, the last thing we needed were more worries about money. Our CLIC Sargent hardship grant was a such a relief at a really dark, stressful time.

When Aaron was diagnosed with cancer, everything happened so fast. We left home really quickly to go to Liverpool for treatment and had to buy essentials on the go. Clothes, food, toys and travel costs all added up. Not to mention our bills even though we weren't at home. The support of our CLIC Sargent Social Worker, Ffion, and the hardship grant was a lifeline. It really helped take away some of the financial pressure and let us focus on Aaron getting better. Thank you for being a lifeline for families like mine who are facing the toughest times.
