Recently, we received an urgent call from the RSPCA: they had just entered a home with over 75 chihuahuas living in extreme neglect. In heartbreaking situations like this, it’s sadly common for many animals to be too far gone. But in this case, none required euthanasia—which meant the RSPCA urgently needed rescue spaces for all of them.
We stepped in to take three male chihuahuas. Most of the females were pregnant or nursing, and with limited space, we knew we could safely provide the best care for the boys.
When they arrived, we were shown videos of the environment they came from—and it was truly distressing: no natural light, overwhelming filth, and dogs packed so tightly they could barely move. The owner started with four unneutered dogs. Years later, the situation spiraled to 75—all severely inbred.
These three chihuahuas have never been outside, never worn a collar, never walked on a lead, and never met anyone but their former owner. As you can imagine, they were terrified—cowering in their beds, trembling uncontrollably.
We’ve been sitting quietly in their kennel, tossing bits of cheese and fresh chicken to gain their trust. One of them—the bravest of the bunch—has finally let us fit a collar and harness, and went on his first ever walk this week.
They have weepy eyes, strong odors, and haven’t yet had any medical care in their lives.
We now need your help.
To get these boys ready for the next step in their lives—foster homes and, eventually, forever homes—we need to fund:
Health checks
Neutering
Vaccinations
Microchipping
Ongoing care and behavioral support
Every donation brings these boys one step closer to healing from years of isolation and fear.
Please donate today and help us give them the life they’ve never known.
