Story
The Elements Challenge is a year-long fundraising adventure made up of four challenges, each representing one of the elements: water, wind, earth, and fire. It has been designed for individuals and workplace teams who want to push themselves, build stronger connections and support local children who need opportunities most.
The individual events making up the challenge are:
Water – Friday 20 February Participants can take on The Dunker at Humber Offshore Training Association (HOTA) – an underwater escape simulator normally used to train helicopter crews for emergency sea landings. The experience involves being submerged and spun 180 degrees in the dark in 250,000 litres of water before finding a safe route to the surface.
There will also be an alternative water challenge which we think will be wild water swimming
Wind – Saturday 21 March or June (date TBC) Choose between a 100ft abseil down Hull College or a 15,000ft skydive, delivering unbeatable views and heart-pounding excitement. An additional cost applies for the skydive.
Earth – Sunday 19 April or Sunday 10 May Get down and dirty at Get Caked, a five-mile muddy obstacle course at Sledmere House in April, or in May take on The Drop – a survival-style challenge where blindfolded participants are transported to an unknown location and must find their way back without phones.
Fire – July or October (exact dates TBC) Choose between an extraordinary Fire Fighter Challenge, – an experience never before offered to the public – or a powerful and exhilarating fire walk over hot coals.
Participants sign up to the Elements Challenge as a whole and complete each event, with teams able to divide events between members if they wish. Along the way, colleagues build relationships, confidence and shared pride – while raising vital funds to help HEY CU broaden horizons and raise aspirations for children across Hull and East Yorkshire.
