Harry's World Record Wing Walk at 98!

Taking on this wing walk just one week before his 99th birthday, Harry would love your support. Instead of a card, donate what you can and leave a message to show him how many people are behind him.

Lennox Children's Cancer Fund makes a positive difference to the lives of children fighting cancer. This is achieved through key projects, such as Respite Breaks and Care Grants, which support the whole family practically, financially and emotionally at a time when it is needed most.

Story

At 98 years old, Harry is about to attempt something extraordinary. He is preparing to take on a wing walk, not for attention, not for a record, but to fulfil a dream he has carried with him for almost a century.

Just a year ago, Harry’s world had become much smaller. Age had taken some of his independence and he had to move into a care home as everyday tasks became more difficult. Even simple things like climbing the stairs required help, and his mobility had declined to the point where many people might have accepted that their adventurous days were behind them.

But Harry never lost his spirit.

Over the past year Harry has been working closely with physiotherapist Reef from Reeflex Mind and Motion, slowly rebuilding his strength, balance, and confidence. Through consistent work focusing on leg strength, core stability, and mobility, Harry has achieved something remarkable. He has progressed from struggling with mobility to now walking up the stairs independently again. Step by step, session by session, he has been preparing his body for something most people would never even consider.

All of this is leading to one incredible goal. Harry wants to complete a wing walk, something he has dreamed about for years, while raising money for Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

This cause is deeply personal to him. Harry lost his beloved wife to cancer, and he has never gone a day without thinking about her. Her memory stays with him in everything he does, and this challenge is another way of honouring her while helping families facing the same devastating illness.

Harry’s life has been one of service and resilience. His brother took part in the D Day landings. His sisters worked tirelessly in wartime factories supporting the war effort. Harry himself served his country and was deployed to Germany after the war. Like so many of his generation, he dedicated his early life to rebuilding a world that others could live safely in.

Now, nearly a century later, we have the chance to give something back.

This journey has not been Harry’s alone. It has been made possible through the daily care, encouragement, and dedication of the incredible team around him at Eastham Care Home where he lives. Karolyn, the home manager, along with Amber the deputy manager and Sam the lifestyle lead, have supported Harry every single day. Their motivation, compassion, and belief in what he could achieve have played a huge part in helping him reach this point. Together with Reeflex Mind and Motion, they have helped turn what once felt impossible into something within reach.

This is more than a fundraising challenge. It is a story about resilience, about honouring a generation who gave so much, and about a community coming together to help a man achieve a life long dream at 98 years old.

Harry is not just doing this for himself. After sadly losing both his son and his wife to cancer, he is doing it for the children and families also facing the unimaginable challenges a diagnosis brings. Every donation to Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund will help provide support, comfort, and hope when families need it most.

If Harry can stand on the wing of a plane at 98 years old, after everything life has thrown at him, then surely we can all stand behind him.

Please support Harry's journey. Let’s help him turn a life long dream into something that changes lives.
