Story
Creative Change (GMcr) Project
We're currently in the process of trying to visit every Homeless provision and conduct an interview with as many marginalised and isolated participants as possible to signpost them to creative activity in their local community.
We will gather data from each person of their hobbies, interests and ambitions relating to creative activity. Where we can, we will signpost people to local projects along 'Social Prescribing' lines to move people away from social isolation to a more positive, and supported, lifestyle. If not, we will have the evidence needed to work with local groups to create collaborative projects that provide a real legacy moving forward.
Our project will listen to the needs of participants and offer an alternative lifestyle choice that opens opportunity to share, learn and create together. This builds strong & positive relationships with others, some from similar, and others from diverse, backgrounds.
In consultation with people who are rough-sleepers and those who are Homeless they have told us that there is a lack of opportunity to 'move on' into other projects, creative groups or social activity. We will work across the whole of Greater Manchester and will provide a valuable support service that increases the offer of 'A Bed Every Night' to extend opportunities for long-term positive change.
This in turn will 'free up' valuable accommodation as people develop support networks and build in confidence, hopefully rebuilding family relationships, into employment and their own tenancies. Additionally, our 'Social Prescribing' model offers opportunities for people to develop positive mental wellbeing which also reduces the strain on Services and improves people's lives.
We are more than happy to involve other partners and we will conduct some additional awareness training in interview skills, information gathering & an induction into our Charity (Personal Safety, Safeguarding, Data protection, working with vulnerable people, etc.) which will be delivered by ourselves. This would allow us to massively increase the reach of the project.
