Story
All I want for Christmas…
As most people trim their tree, buy generous gifts and plan a lavish lunch, Christmas can feel like the loneliest time of year for the vulnerable adults we care for at Shiloh.
We support people in Rotherham who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Christmas can be more about survival - but together we can change that.
This winter, hundreds of people in Rotherham will turn to Shiloh for support. More people are arriving at our doors after sleeping rough, being evicted, or facing unsafe housing. Many are in crisis with no food, no support and nowhere to go. What they want most is hope for the future.
At Shiloh, we are a small, local charity dedicated to supporting people in crisis. Every day, we provide life-saving services, practical help and a compassionate listening ear to people when they need it the most.
We meet people where they are by providing intensive one-to-one support, food, clothing, access to shower and laundry facilities, a phone, access to a computer and to partner agencies who can help them get their lives back on track.
At Christmas, our support becomes even more crucial.
We asked some of our guests what they really wanted this Christmas. They told us they wanted...
...a happy home
...a better life for people like me at Shiloh
...is to be happy in my new two-bed house
...our own place so we can settle down
...to know what family feels like
...for my family to make some wonderful moments and magical memories
Your generosity will help us to support our guests to go from homelessness to independence, as they work to turn their modest dreams into reality.
It means we can continue our vital service throughout winter and beyond. Every donation is more than just money – it’s a message that no one who is homeless, or at risk of homelessness, is forgotten.
Please donate whatever you can afford - whether it’s £5, £50, £100 or more - every penny will be appreciated. Alternatively, could you fundraise at work, school, at home or with your community group to help us reach our £5,000 goal?
