The Intensive Care Society is the largest multi-professional intensive care body in the UK. We support the entire intensive care community as they care for the sickest of patients. We exist to improve the lives of those teams by providing research, guidance, education, wellbeing and a lot more.

Story

If you or someone you love is admitted to intensive care it can be a time of considerable stress and worry. It may be helpful to understand what you can expect to happen in intensive care, both as a patient and as a relative.

Intensive Care is a multi-professional team, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, occupational therapists, and many other allied healthcare professionals. They are there to care for you, or your loved one, and to answer your questions while in an intensive care unit (ICU).

ICS support intensive care by:

Providing wellbeing and psychological support

Funding research in to intensive care to enable better patient outcomes

Providing essential education programmes and resources

Providing lifesaving guidance

Facilitating the delivery of our rehab work to help get patients back on their feet
