We need your support to build an additional learning and support space for the children of Iron Acton Primary School. This new facility will be located on the field adjoining the school, providing a much-needed dedicated area for interventions and support.
Iron Acton Primary is a charming Victorian school, but as with many older buildings, space is limited, making it difficult to adapt to modern needs. A significant number of our students have Educational, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require a suitable environment for interventions. Many others need social, emotional, and mental health support, and an increasing number of children—without EHCPs—also benefit from small group work tailored to their needs.
Currently, these vital interventions take place in makeshift spaces: the school hall—where people pass through, piano lessons take place, and lunch is prepared—or cramped areas outside classrooms, sometimes right next to toilets. These settings are far from ideal, especially for children with sensory sensitivities, making it harder for them to focus and benefit from support.
In 2023-2024, we trialled a temporary solution—an outdoor wooden garden room generously donated by a grandparent. While it demonstrated the incredible benefits of a dedicated space, it was small, lacked heating and lighting, and couldn’t be used year-round.
Now, we are determined to provide our children with a permanent, well-equipped space where they can receive the support they need in a calm, distraction-free environment. Your contribution will help us create a warm, inclusive space that enables every child to reach their full potential.
