Story

We thought it would be fun to approach local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To our delight seven agreed, and here we are today. Our courageous defendants have been charged with outrageous crimes such as: "Excessive use of emojis in LinkedIn posts" and "Inability to avoid a karaoke mike despite having absolutely zero singing ability".

Representing organisations including OSB, Rayden's Solicitors, Killik & Co, JS Learning and CMS, the defendants have stood before Judge Kingston, been found guilty, and are now in custody. The ‘Jail or Bail’ event has been made possible with thanks to Maggie's long-standing supporters Stanhope PLC.

Bail for each has been set at £1,500 and they have been sent down to contemplate their crimes while raising funds to pay their bail and get out of jail. They are counting on your support. Their freedom and reputation depend on it! Jail or Bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, and there is an important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's. For many people living with cancer Maggie's is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people at any stage and with any type of cancer, and to their family and friends.

In the past decade the our London centres have welcomed over 70,000 visits, provided thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support. With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have access to the support available at Maggie’s. The prisoners have until 3pm on Friday 15th November to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones, laptops and social media channels. To help them raise their bail, you can make a donation in support of your favourite inmate by visiting their - see 'Fundraisers', on the right hand side of this page.

Thank you for supporting Jail or Bail. Your kindness and generosity will make an incredible difference to Maggie's.
