Jamaica is in Darkness with very little Communication
In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa ripped through Jamaica, destroying homes, schools, and hospitals and leaving 77% of the island without power. Communities like St Elizabeth, Clarendon, Manchester and many others were plunged into darkness and isolation. Families cannot light their homes, charge their phones, or contact loved ones.
That’s where the Jarrett Foundation steps in, not just as a charity, but as the last-mile NGO, personally delivering items to the most impacted communities so that no one is left behind. We will provide solar lights to illuminate homes and solar battery chargers to keep communication alive, restoring power, and connection, so that people can stay connected with their families and connected to the emergency services.
In St Elizabeth, the phone network is working very poorly, and 97% of residents have no electricity.”
Kelesha Williams, journalis
“There’s definitely a sense of urgency, two-day power and cell outages. Jamaicans are resilient people.”
Dontae Matthews, Saint Catherine parish,
“We don’t have no electricity…”
Owen Clarke, hotel owner in Jamaica.
Why The Jarrett Foundation Must Act?
The Jarrett Foundation has been working in Jamaica for the last 13 years and we are a trusted organisation.
Many items are being collected to be shipped to Jamaica, by organisations, churches and individuals, however, none of them provide for light or communication. This is why The Jarrett Foundation must act now.
