Mount Kilimanjaro Trek - Funding Life-Changing Safe Surgery for Children in Tanzania.
Saturday 4th October | Sunday 12th October
Our trekkers are joining Kids Operating Room (KidsOR) on an unforgettable journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa. Over seven incredible days, they will trek via the stunning Lemosho Route, ascending through breathtaking landscapes—from lush rainforest and moorland to alpine desert and the Arctic plains.
This challenge isn’t just about reaching the summit—it’s about transforming children’s lives. All fundraising will help build a child friendly operating room at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, where children will receive the essential surgery they desperately need. As part of the experience, they will visit the hospital on the first evening to witness first-hand the impact of their efforts.
Your support will be helping children like Baby Sheymaa (see the picture gallery at the top of the page). Sheymaa spent a year of her life going back and forth between hospitals with no clear diagnosis for her abdominal pains. Eventually the family decided to make the commitment of traveling over 200km to Muhimbilli National Hospital in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania that is equipped with a KidsOR operating room. It was here that Sheymaa finally got the care she needed and deserved. For many families, a 200km journey is simply not possible. And this is why we need your support to create more of these spaces in Tanzania.
This is more than a trek—it’s an opportunity to push limits, make an impact, and help children in Tanzania access the life-saving surgery they deserve.
