We are dedicated to life-changing care at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. King’s provides specialist and local health services to over one million people in South-East London and Kent, as well as critical care. Our work makes innovation, as well as world class treatment, possible.

Story

The service is an appointed Oncology shared care unit, delivering outstanding vital care to children and young people with cancer. This means we are the admitting ward for all cancer emergencies, these patients would come straight to the ward and not via the Emergency Department. These children would also attend the ward for regular blood transfusions and their regular chemotherapy treatment.

Toni & Guy is the main receiving ward for our Emergency Department, and we see on average 120 patients a month, making the ward one of the busiest children’s wards here at Kings. It boasts an extensive multidisciplinary team who are committed to working collaboratively to provide high quality care to infants, children and young people.

Children and Young People can be a patient on the ward for less than 24 hours up to weeks/ months. A parent can stay overnight with their child, and more recently charity funding has helped us create a fantastic parents room on the ward, for parents to be able to get away from the beeping machines, and the hustle and bustle of the ward, and a space to relax and rewind.

Funds raised for Toni & Guy Ward could benefit the staff, patients and their families. Nursing staff can be offered more courses to enhance their training and knowledge, specialist equipment can be invested in to enhance the treatment of our patients and the patients’ stay can be made more comfortable by providing entertainment or home comforts.

Thank you so much for your contribution, it means so much to the patients who spend time on the ward, a well as to the teams providing the best care possible.
