Story
As a result of the Covid-19 outbreak, Uganda is now on lockdown. The closure of borders and the ban on public transport and cars has lead to the closure of business - leaving so many of our community without work or access to essentials. Many in Uganda live hand-to-mouth and without their jobs cannot feed themselves and their families.
Weve been working with Julius and our wonderful teams in Hoima and Kasambya to prepare food packages for those left most vulnerable as a result of this. These food packages consist of maize, soap, salt and some beans. Furthermore, we desperately need to provide money for fuel to drive ambulances. Without public transport, too many people cannot get to a hospital and this is especially distressing for pregnant women.
This support will cost us £1,500. Just over half of this has been funded by the overwhelming response to our Virtual Pub Quiz thank you. However, we require a further £700 to be able to provide this support that is so desperately needed. We know these are precarious times for all of us, so we would appreciate any support you can give - whether that is a donation or simply sharing this post with friends and family. If you are able to give, we suggest a £10 donation for fuel, and a £20 donation for a food package.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support. In the same way we are looking after each other in the UK at this time, you enable us to look after our community in Uganda.
