Story
Our beautiful 15th century church has been at the centre of village life for more than 600 years. Generations of people have worshipped together, been baptised, married and buried.
It is a living building that has changed over the centuries to accommodate the ever-shifting needs of the congregation and of the community. The For Future Generations project will make changes to the interior of the building and provide a new, more welcoming entrance annexe.
The simpler and more adaptable interior will provide level, easier access around the building and more comfortable seating. It will suit modern forms of church service and better suit the needs of other users such as local schools and village societies.
The new north entrance and annexe will incorporate catering facilities and accessible toilets. It will be built sympathetically to the north aisle and the stone and glass facade will allow views through, inviting people into the main body of the church.
New heating, lighting and AV systems will further enhance the way the building can be used, whilst supporting our aim of treading lightly on God's creation and minimising our impact on our precious environment.
Together, the proposed changes reflect our desire to fulfil our vision statement … to be a house of God’s light for all peoples and generations.
