Out of Survival Mode; Mont Blanc...

In July I will be attempting to climb the highest mountain in Western Europe, Mont Blanc. Every penny raised will fund healthy relationships projects in schools to help eradicate domestic abuse and violence.
In July I will be attempting to climb the highest mountain in Western Europe, Mont Blanc. Every penny raised will fund healthy relationships projects in schools to help eradicate domestic abuse and violence.
At 4810m high, Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in Western Europe and in early July I will set off for Chamonix in the French Alps to begin my attempt to climb it.
Every single penny donated to Landlark for this fundraising challenge will go to vital prevention work to eradicate domestic abuse and violence. Landlark works with the domestic abuse charity Tender to fund and deliver Healthy Relationship workshops in Cambridgeshire schools. These workshops equip young people with the tools to recognise relationships with the potential to become abusive, coercive and controlling.
100% of each donation will go to delivering this vital work. All the costs associated with this expedition will be met privately.
At Landlark, we are committed to building a world where everyone lives free from domestic abuse and violence. We believe that the way to achieve this is through vital preventative education - enabling young people to learn the skills needed to live happy, healthy lives, free from abuse.
This will be the biggest test of physical endurance and mental resilience I have ever embarked on and I am really not under any illusion how difficult this will be! Although somewhat daunted and in awe of the challenge ahead, one thing I no longer am, is scared to try.
Up until about four years ago, I was in survival mode. Literally surviving an abusive relationship when I was just 15 years old, I spent most of my life in the years after, trying to process what happened to me and as a result, constantly living in fear from that trauma. It was only about four years ago that I finally took the steps I needed to in order to heal, and not only heal, but learn how to really thrive.
I am attempting this massive challenge - which will push me beyond anything I have ever tried - for everyone out there still in survival mode. For anyone who has ever wondered whether they will heal from the fight or flight feeling they constantly live under. For anyone and everyone who exists from day to day and cannot see beyond that. I want you to know that healing is possible and that you are stronger than you could possibly believe.
It’s only when you’re finally out of survival mode that you can start to live.
WHAT DOES THE CHALLENGE INVOLVE:
On the 11th July, with the amazing company Adventure Base, I will start my expedition by flying to Chamonix in the French Alps, before undertaking a two day training climb up Gran Paradiso just across the Italian border. This is in itself, no mean feat. Gran Paradiso stands at 4061m high and will allow for me to acclimatise to altitude as well as (hopefully!) satisfy the guides that I am physically fit enough to attempt Mont Blanc.
All going well, I will then return to Chamonix before starting the two day ascent of Mont Blanc, staying overnight at Tete Rousse, a refuge on the mountain. Summit Day will begin in the early hours of the morning and on that day, we will ascend just over 1700m to hopefully stand on the summit of Mont Blanc.
All donations, however small, are so appreciated.
