On average 9 people drown every day in Vietnam. Many of these lives are lost along Vietnam's long coastline. Beaches are often unpatrolled due to lack of trained lifeguards and lifesaving equipment. Tragically, this leads to drownings at beaches being a very regular occurrence. Help us to bring vital lifesaving equipment into Vietnam and provide training courses for new and existing beach lifeguards. If we are lucky enough to raise additional funds they will go to funding Swim Vietnam's free survival swimming lessons for Vietnamese children.
Swim Vietnam has been running drowning prevention programs in Vietnam since 2008. They have taught 35,000 children to swim. 1,500 adults have been trained as swim teachers and an additional 3,500 as classroom water safety educators. A quarter of a million students have received Swim Vietnam's water safety education in schools. They are registered providers of AUSTSWIM swim teacher training and Royal Lifesaving Australia lifeguard training in Vietnam. Swim Vietnam is a registered UK charity.
