Swim Vietnam has been working since 2008 to help to reduce the shockingly high drowning rates in Vietnam. This campaign is to send vital lifesaving equipment to Vietnam and provide training to new and existing beach lifeguards.

Story

Nine people drown every day in Vietnam. Many of these lives are lost along Vietnam's long coastline. Beaches in Vietnam are often unpatrolled due to lack of trained lifeguards and lifesaving equipment. Tragically, this leads to drowning at beaches being a regular occurrence.

Help Swim Vietnam to bring vital lifesaving equipment into Vietnam and also provide training courses for new and existing beach lifeguards. If we are lucky enough to raise additional funds they will all go to funding our free survival swimming lessons for Vietnamese children.

I am walking the Camino de Santiago which is about 800km across Northern Spain. I want to use this feat to help raise funds for this really worthwhile project. As the founder of Swim Vietnam I am very aware of the high drowning rates on Vietnam's beaches and have personally been involved in beach rescues there, both successful and unsuccessful. This equipment and training will have a huge impact on reducing the risk of drowning on Vietnam's coastline.
