🌟 Who Is Maddi?

Maddi is a determined 24 year old who has spent the last few years living with a cruel, rare childhood-onset motor neurone type disease that has slowly taken away her strength, balance, and independence.

What began as small trips and wobbles at age 15 has become a daily battle. Walking is now extremely difficult. Even standing still takes enormous effort. But Maddi refuses to give up.

💪 Why We Lift

Instead of giving in, Maddi trains in the gym several times a week.

She lifts weights to fight the progression of her disease, to stay strong for as long as she possibly can, and to hold onto pieces of her independence.

Her strength has inspired thousands and now it has inspired a movement.

🔬 The Breakthrough: Her Gene CAN Be Fixed

This is the most powerful and urgent part of Maddi’s story:

✨ Scientists KNOW Maddi’s faulty gene can be fixed.

Researchers need to create a mouse model and run critical proof-of-concept studies to move Maddi toward base editing, a cutting-edge approach that could correct the gene causing her disease.

The full scientific pathway costs approximately £500,000, but we are fundraising in stages beginning with an achievable public target.
