Our rescue horses and ponies have survived against the odds, many having lived in terrible conditions resulting in long-term physical and psychological trauma. Our responsibility is to ensure that they receive all the specialist veterinary treatment they need to manage their health conditions and lead happy, pain-free lives. Sarabi (pictured above) was rescued this summer along with her foal Simba. Poor Sarabi had a massive swelling on the left side of her face, extending up to her eye, caused by infection from putrid decaying food that is entering through a large hole in her gum, where there is bone missing. It is believed the missing bone is caused by a birth defect and the hole leads into her sinus right up below her eye. Our vet has been treating her to make her comfortable for now, but it has not been a long-term solution and she now needs extensive dental treatment. Sarabi is also in foal again so we need to do everything we can for her.

This, in addition to increased costs and demand for hay caused by the recent unpredictable weather, has made this a critical time for us.
