Story
The London Ukrainian Review is an open-access journal that tackles global challenges through the prism of Ukraine while adopting a distinctly internationalist perspective on the Ukrainian past and present. Published by the Ukrainian Institute London, in partnership with INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange, the journal counters the clichéd portrayal of Ukrainian culture, society, and politics, while firmly situating the country in the global context.
With a commitment to disseminating thought-provoking and engaging content, the London Ukrainian Review features formats ranging from essays, poetry, and conversation pieces to visual art and reportage. The journal’s pool of contributors unites creative practitioners, writers, academics, policymakers, and Ukraine experts, providing an independent platform for cross-cultural dialogue. Its thematic issues aim to cover topics as diverse as the environment, imperial legacies, justice, international security, and more.
Issue 7 (2026) of the London Ukrainian Review on Veterans centres the voices of those who have served – their testimony, their art, and their knowledge – while exploring veteran politics in other war-affected societies around the globe.
Each issue of the London Ukrainian Review is produced with additional support from partner organisations and individual donors. You can join the growing community of individuals committed to maintaining the journal as an independent platform for cross-cultural dialogue. Your donation will ensure the high-quality production and promotion of our upcoming issues.
