This Christmas as our friends and families gather, children’s eyes sparkle with excitement, warmth, chatter, laughter and companionship fills our homes and our hearts, somewhere in the next village, street or even in the house next door a family is waking up in despair.
The harsh reality is this Christmas a family, OAP or individual on our doorstep will wake on Christmas morning, to see their breath not presents under the tree, as the cold inside their homes cuts deep. There will be no Christmas decorations, no excited children or anticipation of a day filled with love and laughter.
Mental health will take a catastrophic hit, and little will be upset when they discover that Santa didn’t visit them in the night. As we come to an end to 2023, it is hard to fathom why a city once so buoyant now has a growing number of residents living daily in such despair.
No resident of our city or shire deserves this and Somebody Cares will continue to do all that we can to provide for those in need during such challenging times. This Christmas we aim to provide every household who turns to us for help with enough food to see them through the festive period, and include where possible Christmas treats, gifts and Christmas eve bags for little ones.
Please help us help someone on your doorstep enjoy the same Christmas as you plan for your family. A donation of £5 will ensure a family pet receives some food, £10 will ensure a child enjoys the magic of Christmas eve, £25 will help us feed an individual and a donation of £50 will go towards feeding a family.
You can donate by following the link to our Urgent Just Giving Appeal. The way to help a city is to love it, if you are able, please pay it forward and donate to our appeal today.
